Group VAT registration – a solution to managing multiple VAT returns?
Recently a corporate client asked me for advice regarding a possible group VAT registration application. The client owns three entities, each of which are required to prepare and submit their own VAT returns, and the client was hopeful that a group VAT registration would be the path to relieve some of the administrative burden.

Fuel scale charges and fuel benefit-in-kind
VAT FUEL SCALE CHARGES REDUCED! We are so accustomed to rising motor taxes that it was a nice surprise to see the VAT fuel scale charges (in respect of petrol and diesel supplied for private motoring) decrease for return periods.

SRA – Changes to Reporting Accountant Requirements

Back in 2006 the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) issued its first version of guidance to its members on best practice in the preparation of commercial service charge accounts.

Strategic Report – A new page in the Annual Accounts!
I was asked by a client a couple of weeks ago about the Strategic Report; well, actually, to assist the directors with coming up with the draft report. The company has overseas operations in different continents; the directors were unsure on what needed to be included in the report.

Pay taxes according to the law!
It was announced last Tuesday that HMRC have collected an additional £23.9billion over the last year as a result of their investigations. This has been achieved by a number of methods and it is clear that HMRC are making serious efforts to tackle what they see as tax avoidance.

Are you paying the 62% tax rate?
