Don’t miss the 31 January deadline!

With the festive season behind us, many individuals will be turning their attention towards the looming deadline for Self-Assessment Tax Returns.

If you need to file a tax return online and you haven’t yet registered online to do so, act now to make sure you don’t miss the 31 January deadline. Alternatively, we can file your tax return electronically to HMRC, on your behalf. Please contact one of our tax managers if you would like to get further assistance in this regard.

You have until midnight on Saturday 31 January 2015 to send a completed online Self-Assessment tax return for the year ended 5 April 2014 to HMRC.

If you miss the deadline you will be fined £100. This applies even if you don’t owe any tax or are due a refund.

It should also be noted that 31 January 2015 is the deadline for paying any tax you owe from the 2013-14 tax year and the first payment on account for the 2014-15 tax year. Late payment of taxes will incur interest and surcharges.

If you are in any doubt about your tax position, or need help in the completion and submission of your tax return, please contact one of our tax partners or managers and we shall be happy to assist you.
