If you’re a Self Assessment taxpayer you’ll know that you may have to make Payments on Account of your tax liability, one of which is due on 31 July.
Helpfully HMRC issue reminders complete with a tear-off payslip. Only this July things have gone wrong as, bizarrely, HMRC have run out of the ‘right sort of paper’ and if your 10 digit Unique Taxpayer Reference ends 70 to 99 they haven’t sent you a reminder.
HMRC are promising to sort this out as soon as possible and have said that if you are affected and end up paying late, they won’t charge you interest.
Run out of paper?! As some people have remarked, if HMRC was a business, it would go out of business.
