Business Records Check

Almost 2 years since its announcement (see our Topical Tip 160), HMRC have now launched their ‘Business Records Check’ initiative under which they will be writing to businesses explaining that they propose to telephone you and ask a series of questions about the records kept by your business. This may lead to visits from HMRC if the answers to the questions suggest that there may be weaknesses in the records.
Not all businesses will receive such a letter but if you do, we would recommend that you get in touch with your Barnes Roffe contact partner to discuss further. you should let us know.
If you receive a call from HMRC asking questions about your record-keeping, it is possible to request that they put any questions they may have in writing and address them to us as your registered agent.
Please do get in touch with us if you have any queries at all.
